This is our story
Meet Jake McCarthy (CEO) and Ryan Welch (COO), two photographers with big dreams and a passion for empowering others.
What began as a small photography studio, Ryan Welch Weddings, in Newport, Wales, quickly evolved into a thriving business shooting 200 weddings a year. This growth highlighted the need for efficient post-production, and Freedom Edits was born.
Initially, Freedom Edits was just a way to help our studio, but as word spread, we began working with other studios, providing personalized editing services tailored to photographers and videographers worldwide. From the start, relationships and personal connections have been at the heart of what we do, creating a space where collaboration is personal and impactful.
As AI reshaped the editing industry, we made a pivotal decision. While technology has its benefits, our purpose remained clear: building meaningful, lasting relationships. We made the tough choice to sell the photo editing side of Freedom Edits to focus on what makes us unique—community, trust, and personalized service. Though we miss the daily interactions with clients who became friends, we’re thankful to still cheer them on from afar.
